SHINEDOWN Launches 'Behind The Tat'
September 23, 2008Jacksonville, Florida-based hard rock/post-grunge band SHINEDOWN has launched a new weekly feature on its official web site, Shinedown.com, called "Behind The Tat." Each week the band will tell you the stories and inspiration behind each of its tattoos. First up is bassist Eric Bass.
A new audio interview with SHINEDOWN lead singer Brent Smith has been posted on the ListenIn.org web site.
SHINEDOWN's "Devour" single recently reached #1 on both the Billboard Active and Mediabase Rock charts. Fresh off of its success, the band released "Second Chance" as the next single from their album "The Sound Of Madness" on September 9.
For Brent Smith, "Second Chance" is the most autobiographical track on the album. Smith wrote the lyrics about leaving his native Knoxville, Tennessee, to pursue a career in rock 'n' roll.
"This song for me is the most personal song on the record because it's about how I grew up and my childhood," commented Brent. "It's about throwing caution to the wind and going after what you truly want in life."
"Second Chance" can also currently be heard in all of the promos on Fox for their hit series "Terminator - The Sarah Connor Chronicles".
SHINEDOWN last month made a digital-only track titled "Junkies For Fame" available for purchase on all major download sites. Recorded during the sessions for "The Sound Of Madness", "Junkies For Fame" was previously only available on the video game Rock Band 2.
SHINEDOWN performed "Second Chance", on the September 5 episode of NBC-TV's "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno". Watch the performance below.
